Hi, my name is Libby Liming (also known as Mia Cupcake) and I am a 30-something year old single mom, living in the upper left of the lower 48 (Bellingham, WA). By day, I work from home for a great software company in their customer-facing division. At night, I don my superhero cape and run this blog (plus the social media associated with it) and a freelance writing gig or two while trying to cram as much crafting/baking/exercising/everything as I can without exhausting my kids. Or myself.
I am a geek. I love to experiment with makeup. I eat mostly paleo, with the occasional Whole30 thrown in for good measure. I think Instagram and SnapChat are the best. I love rock climbing, running, Zumba and Crossfit, and I don’t do any of them often enough. I love sunshine and coffee and chalkboards, rainy days and pretty dresses and fancy shoes. I love glitter, airplanes, leggings, surfers, bacon and my enormous cookbook collection.
I don’t like liver, super gory horror movies, standing still for too long and people who speak out of both sides of their mouths.
I have two kids. Wolfgang is 16 and taller than me. He is super smart, plays the trumpet and is a great actor. He’s also into math that makes me feel like my brain got the blue screen of death. I *can* help him with his French homework. Chuck is 6, and we keep her internet appearances to the absolute bare minimum. This is probably the only place you’ll see her mentioned.
I moved to Bellingham, WA in 2009 to be with my then-boyfriend and his family, and stayed because it’s my home. I’m obsessed with our local farmers market and eating local, and try to attend as many area events as possible.
As much as I love home, I LOVE to travel. My day job has me travel 2-3 times a year, but I have also been known to attend a blog conference or two, and visit my best friend in Southern California as often as possible. Disneyland is my FAVORITE. I also run the occasional race with RunDisney. The kids and I try to take a trip once a year somewhere fun.
I LOVE to cook. LOVE. I also really like to eat. I watch an inordinate amount of food television. I am starting to hone my culinary skills to try out for Masterchef. I am really excited and extremely nervous about this goal, but I’ve been wishing for this for too long. Time for action!
I want to go back to France someday. I want to see the cliffs of Dover, the pyramids at Giza and the temples in Angkor Wat. I go back and forth on whether or not I want a bamboo tattoo from the monks in Thailand. I want to sun myself on the beaches of the Riviera. I want to learn to surf the Wedge in SoCal. I want to dine at the French Laundry and eat beignets in New Orleans. I have big travel dreams that may need to wait until after my kids grow and leave me.
I am a Christian, and do my best to follow God’s word. I screw up a lot, like everyone. I try, though. I believe in love and patience and kindness.
I’m not really like your typical “mom blogger”. I would love to turn this into my full time job, and I love the opportunities it affords me and my little family. I have to be honest though – it’s taken me a lot of hits and misses to figure out who I really am, and I don’t compromise that for any amount. I won’t blog about something that I don’t like or I don’t use. I write what I know (and learning about interesting things I don’t know) and I won’t lie, no matter what.
As always, let me know if you have any questions and welcome to my madness!
